The least squares regression is the most common method applied for fitting the soil-water retention curve (SWRC) function to the observed data-points to optimize its parameters. However, the variance of SWRC data varies in different moisture content and therefore, unlike the wet-end of SWRC, the conventional unweighted regression method may not be sufficiently effective in estimating its dry-end (higher suctions). While, selected soil processes, such as soil moisture redistribution or transport of contaminants in soil occur in low soil moisture contents which correspond to the dry-end of the curve. Consequently, in fitting different hydraulic functions to SWRC, the accuracy of SWRC parameters would be improved in the low-moisture range content by determining the appropriate weights for data points. Accordingly, the objective of this study was to investigate the effect of properly weighting the SWRC data points on increasing the accuracy of the estimated soil hydraulic parameters.Materials and Methods: In this study, undistributed soil samples were collected from 20 cm soil depth with six replications. The SWRC of the samples were measured at suctions of 0 to 15000 cm. In order to fit the van Genuchten equation of SWRC on measured values of h(θ) and to estimate its hydraulic parameters through RETC code, the weighted least squares regression method was also used along with the conventional standard least squares regression method. For this purpose, some weights were assigned to the data points as the inverse of the variance of the measured volumetric soil water content in six replications, so that, the effect of the curve estimation error in low moisture contents were considered by assigning larger weights in the regression fitting. Finally, the accuracy of unweighted and weighted regression in the fitting of the SWRC model on the measured data was compared using statistical criteria and a suitable method for the averaging of hydraulic parameters was introduced.Results: Comparison of the fitted hydraulic parameters by unweighted and weighted regression showed that the mean values of the residual water content (Ɵr), saturated water content (Ɵs) and α parameter (reciprocal of air-entry suction) in the weighted method were lower than the unweighted method, however the n parameter values obtained by the weighted method were higher than unweighted method. Reproduction of SWRC using the values hydraulic parameters estimated by either unweighted or weighted methods showed that the weighted method increases the accuracy of the estimation and reduces the percentage of point error in lower moisture contents (higher suctions) compared to the unweighted method. Although, the weighting method generally increased the error of SWRC estimation and decreased the correlation between estimated and observed moisture content. We found that, in both unweighted and weighted regression, the method II (averaging of volumetric water contents at different suctions and estimating hydraulic parameters) had a lower error in compression to method I (averaging of hydraulic parameters). However, in estimation of SWRC in lower moisture contents, the method I had lower point error than that of method II. The method I reduced the error percentage in the weighting method.Conclusion: Assigning proper weight to SWRC data points improves curve fitting in lower moisture range, which is very important in simulating redistribution of moisture or transfer of contaminants transport in the soil processes, particularly in arid and semi-arid conditions.}, keywords = {RETC code,Soil hydraulic parameters,van Genuchten model,Unweighted least squares,Weighted least squares}, title_fa = {تاثیر وزن‌دهی مناسب داده‌های منحنی رطوبتی خاک در تجزیه‌های حداقل مربعات}, abstract_fa = {سابقه و هدف: برآورد دقیق پارامترهای هیدرولیکی خاک اهمیتی کلیدی در شبیه سازی انتقال آب، املاح و آلاینده ها، مدیریت آب مزرعه، مدیریت تولید و حفاظت خاک و آب دارد. پارامترهای مدل منحنی رطوبتی، عموماً با برازش تابع رگرسیون غیرخطی منحنی رطوبتی بر نقطه-داده های اندازه گیری شده توسط روش حداقل مربعات به دست می آیند. با این حال، واریانس داده های منحنی رطوبتی در محدوده مقادیر مختلف رطوبت با یکدیگر متفاوت است. از این‌رو، برخلاف "دنبالۀ تر" منحنی رطوبتی، ممکن است روش رایج رگرسیون غیروزندار در برآورد "دنبالۀ خشک" منحنی کارایی کافی نداشته باشد. این در حالی است ‌که برخی فرآیندهای مهم در خاک، از قبیل باز-توزیع رطوبت یا انتقال آلاینده ها در خاک، در مقادیر رطوبتی کم در خاک و متناظر با مکشهای زیاد منحنی رخ میدهند. بنابراین، در برازش توابع مختلف هیدرولیکی بر منحنی رطوبتی خاک، تعیین وزنهای مناسب برای نقاط مختلف میتواند دقت برآورد پارامترهای منحنی رطوبتی را در محدوده رطوبتهای کم‌مقدار افزایش دهد. لذا هدف از این پژوهش، بررسی تأثیر وزن دهی نقطه-داده های منحنی رطوبتی در افزایش دقت برآورد پارامترهای هیدرولیکی خاک بود.مواد و روشها: برای انجام این پژوهش، نمونه های دست نخورده از عمق 20 سانتی‌متری خاک با شش تکرار جمع آوری شد. منحنی رطوبتی نمونه های خاک در مکش های صفر تا 15000 سانتیمتر اندازه گیری شد. برازش معادله منحنی رطوبتی ون-گنوختن بر داده های اندازه گیری شده h(θ) و برآورد پارامترهای هیدرولیکی آن در برنامه RETC، با روش رگرسیون متداول حداقل مربعات غیروزندار و همچنین روش رگرسیون حداقل مربعات وزندار انجام شد. بدین منظور، با ایجاد وزنهایی به‌صورت معکوس واریانس مقادیر اندازه گیری شده رطوبت حجمی در شش تکرار، تأثیر خطای برآورد منحنی در مقادیر رطوبت پایین نیز با وزن بزرگتری در برازش رگرسیون در نظر گرفته شد. در نهایت دقت رگرسیون غیروزندار و وزندار در برازش مدل منحنی رطوبتی بر داده های اندازه گیری شده با استفاده از معیارهای آماری مقایسه گردید و روش میانگین گیری مناسب پارامترهای هیدرولیکی معرفی شد.یافته ها: مقایسه مقادیر بهینه پارامترهای هیدرولیکی بدست آمده از برازش مدل منحنی رطوبتی ون-گنوختن به دو روش رگرسیون غیروزندار و وزندار نشان داد که میانگین مقادیر پارامترهای رطوبت باقیمانده (Ɵr)، رطوبت اشباع (Ɵs) و ضریب α (عکس مکش ورود هوا) در روش وزندار کمتر از روش غیروزندار بود، در حالیکه، پارامتر n در روش وزندار بیش‌تر از روش غیروزندار به دست آمد. استخراج منحنی رطوبتی خاک بر اساس پارامترهای هیدرولیکی برآورد شده به دو روش غیروزندار و وزندار نشان داد که با وجود این‌که روش وزندار منجر به افزایش خطا (NRMSE) در برآورد منحنی رطوبتی و کاهش همبستگی بین مقادیر رطوبت برآوردی و مشاهداتی شد، دقت برآورد (نزدیکی مقادیر اندازه گیری شده و برآورد شده) را در مقادیر رطوبت کم (مکش زیاد) افزایش و درصد خطای نقطه ای را در مقادیر رطوبت کم نسبت به روش غیروزندار تا مقدار زیادی کاهش داد. مقایسه دو روش میانگین گیری از پارامترهای هیدرولیکی خاک در تکرارهای انجام شده (میانگین‌گیری از پارامترهای هیدرولیکی (روش I) و میانگین گیری از مقادیر رطوبت حجمی در مکش های مختلف و برآورد پارامترهای هیدرولیکی (روش II)) نشان داد که خطای روش II در هر دو روش غیروزندار و وزندار، کم‌تر از روش I بود. با این حال، درصد خطای نقطه ای در برآورد منحنی رطوبتی در مقادیر رطوبت کم در روش I کم‌تر از روش II بوده و روش I منجر به کاهش چشم گیر درصد خطا در روش وزندار شد. نتیجه گیری: اختصاص وزن مناسب به نقطه-داده های منحنی رطوبتی، سبب بهبود برازش منحنی در دنبالۀ خشک منحنی رطوبتی گردید که اهمیت زیادی در شبیه سازی فرآیندهایی از قبیل باز-توزیع رطوبت یا انتقال آلاینده ها در خاک به‌ویژه در شرایط خشک و نیمه-خشک دارد.}, keywords_fa = {برنامه RETC,پارامترهای هیدرولیکی خاک,حداقل مربعات وزن دار,حداقل مربعات غیروزن دار,مدل ون گنوختن}, url = {https://jwsc.gau.ac.ir/article_4874.html}, eprint = {https://jwsc.gau.ac.ir/article_4874_e79b5a65f31d2d09b2ed2250c2388193.pdf} }
